Windows – no disk. Exception processing Message c0000013 – Symantec

March 1, 2010 by jer0dh

After uninstall Symantec Corporate Antivirus version 10.x on our Citrix server. I kept getting the above message popup. It would also slow things down.

I got the manual uninstall instructions which were extremely long. I couldn’t find the utility to do a clean sweep of this program Symantec used to offer. Their knowledgebase said to contact Technical support after trying to manually uninstall. I think this is a bit unreasonable as going through the manual uninstall could easily take 1 to 3 hours. I did some of the more pertinent sections like the services and files..but all had been removed.

I ended up finding another article regarding installing this program on Citrix servers where the c: drive had been renamed as ours has. They spoke about using the SUBST command before installing.

I looked at the disk management (My computer|manage) and saw that a removeable disk drive had been labeled as C:. As soon as I changed this to another letter, the problem went away.
