Based on what I’ve been able to glean from the documentation and release notes from OpenText, these are the steps
- Backup DM server, indexes, library database
- I couldn’t find this in the manuals, but besure to disable Data Execution Protection (DEP)..System control panel under performance…set it for only essential Windows programs…restart. DM doesn’t seem to work with it and it’s hard to figure out why unless you’ve seen it.
- Review and document current DVDP configuration as this will need to be recreated in the 5.2 version of DVDP…Bummer!
- Before upgrading DM with indexer, stop the indexer and restart once upgrade is complete..STOP.. Just found another document..the 521ReadmeCU3. We must recreate the indexes with this new SearchServer Version. I just love that I have to read and delve in so many places and documents in order to get the answers..
- Upgrade DM 5.1.0.5 SR6 Server to DM 5.2.1 latest Service Release (CU3) . Do not need to uninstall first. – It quickly installed and asked for reboot. Docsfusion errors on startup. Ran Library Generator. Restarted again.. Error events gone. 5.1.0.5 clients able to access no problem.
- Upgrade DM 5.1.0.5 Extensions Server to DM 5.2.1 Extensions server. Reconfigured existing deployment package and added Dynamic Views. Once the workstation was restarted and logged back in, it auto-updated the client. Took about 10 minutes but after a restart the workstations seems to be running fine.
- Run TBLCOMP (Library Generator on library database) (did this above)
- Not running Webtop or RM or anything else so nothing to do here
- Actually found some documentation on upgrading Dynamic Views and Dynamic Profiling (DVDP). Looks like I have to install webtop in order to configure DVDP.. No separate DVDP configuration utility like in 5.1.0.5. Be sure to stop the IIS Admin Service before installing webtop. I made this mistake and got all sorts of problems…”Service Unavailable” when going to the webpage to a blank page after logging in…Uninstalled and reinstalling after stopping IIS and it worked…though got error that “you are not authorized…” Since this is just to do DVDP admin, went into IIS Manager and under properties of Cyberdocs folder, Security, added windows authentication.
- Using WebTop Admin, create a 5.2 dynamic view identical to the 5.1.0.5 settings.
- Place MSG_ITEM field on search form (LAWQBE)
- Create a DM 5.2 Extensions deployment package for clients and install. Be sure to add Dynamic Views because the DVDP client is now integrated in Extensions. I’ve been told by OpenText that I do not need to uninstall DM 5.1.0.5 SR6 extensions first. It is supposed to automatically uninstall the old DVDP client as well. My first attempt at this was unsuccesful. Lack of integration in the Apps. Ended up uninstall DM Extensions 5.1.0.5 and Dynamic Views and Dynamic Profiling clients. Then reinstalling. This worked but all my CDU settings were gone. Had to recreate them using the 5.2 CDU utility.
- Install and run DVDP Conversion Utility to a client with 5.2. See Using DM 5.2 guide from OpenText for specifics.
- Install recently released indexer patch from OpenText
- Create DM Extensions package for citrix client
- Start indexer and have it recreate index.
- Setup AutoLogon
