Transfer speeds

USB 2.0 – maximum transfer rate of 480Mbps, but with a sustained transfer rate of 10 to 30Mbps.  Also depends on computer and device speed.  All devices connected to a single USB controller must share the bandwidth.

Firewire (IEEE 1394) – different versions, FireWire 400 (IEEE 1394a), FireWire 800 (IEEE 1394b), maximum 400  or 800 Mbps Sustained transfer rates, respectively.

eSATA – Maximum sustained transfer rates of up to 3000Mbps.
