DM Webtop – no logon

July 8, 2009 by jer0dh

Installed 5.1.0.5 webtop to a Windows 2003 SP2 machine with IIS 6.0. No other webservice installed. No other Hummingbird software installed on this server.
Installed SR6 MR 6

When I access the http:servernamecyberdocs page, I do not get a logon screen. I immediantly get the message below. I’ve used the DM Connection Wizard and confirmed it’s going to the right DM server:

Hummingbird DM can’t log you on.

  • Make sure DM Server is started.
  • Make sure your user name, network name, and library are correct
  • Contact administrator to start DM Server. Type your password again.

Letters in passwords must be typed using the correct case. Make sure Caps Lock is not on.

  • Cannot load the DM Server interface. The DM server may not be started.
  • The following information is provided in case it is needed to diagnose the problem.

       DM Server Code:-2147220997

Tried many different things. But no luck. OpenText helps me out. After looking around for about 20 minutes confirming everything else looks fine. They add the following registry keys to the DM server.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftOle]
“CallFailureLoggingLevel”=dword:00000001
“ActivationFailureLogging”=dword:00000001

After trying webtop again, we look at the DM server’s event log and find there is a DCOM failure for Anonymous Logon user..no Remote Activation right.. Strange. I had used the Best Practices guide and thought I set these DCOM priviledges up… Actually it shows in the Default permissions but not on the Limits button. I might have just set it up in the Defaults.. The Best practices guide doesn’t really say.
